Integrity Declaration

In 2010, SWB took a further step in preventing corruption and has obligated all of its suppliers to acknowledge its integrity declaration.

In doing so, Stadtwerke Bonn is following a recommendation of Transparency International (TI). The SWB Group has been a member of the international organization against corruption since 2003.
The Integrity Declaration was drawn up by the “Corruption Prevention” working group in cooperation the Legal Advisor of Stadtwerke Bonn. The aim of this private law agreement, by which the SWB companies are bound as customers and tenderers, is to prevent any form of corruption, particularly in the form of bribery and restrictive anti-competitive practices. The tenderers undertake to ensure that sub-contracted companies also abide by the provisions of the declaration. If a tenderer infringes on the provisions of the agreement, they may be excluded from the tender and future tenders.

As of 1 January 2007, the Integrity Declaration constitutes a fixed component of the wording of all formal invitations to tender in procurement measures with a planned volume of over EUR 100,000 and contains clearly-defined regulations and conditions for the dealings between tenderers and the parties awarding contracts. Stadtwerke Bonn is sending out a clear signal against corruption with this declaration. The Integrity Declaration is envisaged as an important instrument in the prevention of corruption and should provide all tenderers with equal opportunities. It defines the integrity of the business transaction as its essential feature and ensures fair competition for all participating tenderers.
